High school football fans who cannot get to Arlington in December will have a free way to watch every state championship game.

The University Interscholastic League said Thursday that Nexstar Media Group and Mission Broadcasting will carry the 2026 UIL State Football Championships on their Texas television stations and streaming platforms. All 12 title games, two divisions in each of six classifications, are scheduled at AT&T Stadium over four days, Wednesday, Dec. 16, through Saturday, Dec. 19.

Each game will air on local broadcast TV, on a station's streaming platform, or on both, depending on the market, according to the announcement. Viewers outside a given market, including fans out of state, can watch through any of the participating stations' digital platforms.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth market, the participating outlets are KDAF and its CW33+ streaming service. The release lists stations in 12 other markets as well, among them Houston (KIAH and CW39+), Austin (KBVO, KXAN and KXAN+), Waco-Temple-Bryan (KYLE and FOX44+), Wichita Falls (KJBO and KFDX+), Tyler-Longview (KTPN and KETK+), Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland-Odessa, El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley.

The broadcasters did not say in the release which game will air on which station. The UIL told viewers to check local listings closer to the games.

"The UIL State Football Championships are an important tradition for high schools and communities throughout Texas," UIL Executive Director Jamey Harrison said in the announcement, adding that the league is pleased fans will be able to watch through streaming and local broadcasts.

Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar's broadcasting division, called high school football "part of the fabric of Texas" and said the deal uses the reach of the companies' stations and digital platforms.
