Home Depot Inc. is preparing to open its first store in Celina, Texas, on Aug. 20. The new location will occupy a 135,632-square-foot building at 3245 S. Preston Road. The company stated that the store will create more than 130 jobs for local residents.
This expansion follows recent demographic shifts in the area. Celina recently regained its position as the fastest-growing city in the United States. According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau data, the city's population increased by an estimated 24.6% between mid-2024 and mid-2025, pushing the total past 64,000.
In the previous Census Bureau release, Celina had dropped to fourth place, a position taken by Princeton, which is located to the east. Celina had previously held the top spot in the 2022-23 data.
The influx of new residents has attracted several major retailers to the region. The upcoming Home Depot is situated next to a Costco that is scheduled to open on Aug. 26. It is also located across from a Lowe's that recently opened its doors. Additionally, Walmart recently established a store in the Shawnee Trail development, which is associated with Rex Glendenning.
