Astros Secure 4-0 Win

The Houston Astros defeated the Oakland Athletics 4-0 on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas. The final score reflected a complete sweep of the offense, with the home team outscoring the visitors four runs to none. Attendance at the venue reached 28,477 fans for the contest.

The result improved the Astros' record to 65-64, while the Athletics fell to 49-80. No home runs were recorded by either side during the game.

Alvarez Drives In Two

Yordan Alvarez was the offensive catalyst for Houston, driving in two of the team's four runs. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Carlos Paredes scored on a sacrifice fly by Walker, giving the Astros a 1-0 lead. The margin expanded in the fifth inning when Alvarez doubled to center field, allowing Allen to score and make it 2-0.

Moments later, Paredes doubled to right field, which brought Alvarez home to extend the advantage to 3-0. In the seventh inning, Alvarez recorded another double to shortstop, enabling Delgado to cross the plate and finalize the 4-0 score.

Wesneski Leads Bullpen

Hayden Wesneski earned the victory with a five-inning outing that included one hit, three walks, and four strikeouts while allowing no earned runs. He was followed by Bennett Sousa, who pitched one inning of scoreless ball with two hits and three strikeouts. Bryan Abreu then entered for one inning, allowing no hits or earned runs while walking two batters and striking out two.

Steven Okert and Enyel De Los Santos each closed out their respective innings without allowing hits, earned runs, or walks, securing the shutout for Houston.

Athletics Pitching Lines

J.T. Ginn took the loss for the Athletics, pitching five innings while allowing six hits and three earned runs, issuing two walks and striking out four batters. Elvis Alvarado pitched one inning, allowing one hit and one strikeout with no walks or earned runs.

Drew Rom entered for one and one-third innings, allowing two hits and one earned run, walking one batter and striking out one. Hayden Juenger finished the game, pitching two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit, an earned run, a walk, or a strikeout.
