A Walk-Off Finish in Arlington
Harrison Nimmo provided the game-winning run with a single to center field in the bottom of the ninth inning. The hit scored Michael Langford and left Josh Jung in scoring position, giving the Texas Rangers a 6-5 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday. The win improved the Rangers' record to 49-47, while the Astros fell to 47-51.
Early Astros Lead and Rangers Response
Houston took an early advantage in the second inning. Seby Zavala Lopez singled to right field, allowing Kyle Tucker to score and advance to third. Pedro Perez then doubled to right, driving in both Carter and Lopez to make it 3-0 for the visitors.
The Rangers began chipping away at the deficit in the fourth inning when Jose Altuve homered to left center, cutting the lead to 3-1. However, the Astros extended their margin in the fifth. Nimmo tripled to right, bringing Jung home to make the score 4-1.
In the seventh inning, the Rangers rallied again. Adolis Pena hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Wade Jr. to narrow the gap to 4-2. The momentum shifted further when Alex Bregman singled to center, scoring Dezenzo and Diaz to tie the game at 4-4, with Alvarez moving to second base.
Home Runs Define the Late Innings
The eighth inning featured back-to-back home runs. Corey Seager homered to left field, putting the Rangers ahead 5-4. The Astros responded immediately as Yuli Gurriel homered to left, tying the game at 5-5 and setting the stage for the dramatic ninth.
