Kirk starts the scoring
Toronto opened the scoring in the second inning when Kirk homered to left center, a 373-foot shot that gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead. It was the only home run of the game.
The Blue Jays added two runs in the fourth. Sánchez singled to left, and Okamoto scored on a throwing error by left fielder Trammell. On the same play, Sánchez was safe at second on the error, and Springer was safe at third. Clement followed with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Springer and extending Toronto’s lead to 3-0.
Astros answer once
Houston scored its only run in the sixth inning. Peña singled to center, bringing in Diaz, with Peña moving to second and Smith to third on the play. That trimmed Toronto’s lead to 3-1.
