Final line
Toronto Blue Jays 5, Houston Astros 4, in 10 innings: Clement hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th, and Toronto held on after Houston answered with one run in the bottom half at Daikin Park.

Houston’s early scoring
Houston built a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Altuve opened the scoring with a 401-foot homer to left for a 1-0 lead.
Walker then doubled to left, scoring Varsho, and Wade Jr. singled to center to bring in Walker. That sequence accounted for all four Houston hits that produced runs in the game, with the final Houston run coming later in the 10th.
Jameson Taillon allowed three earned runs on six hits in four innings for Toronto. He walked two and struck out four.
Toronto answers in the sixth
Toronto’s comeback began in the top of the sixth. Okamoto singled to center, scoring Straw, to cut Houston’s lead to 3-1.
Sánchez then tied the game with a 398-foot homer to right, scoring Okamoto and making it 3-3. Hunter Brown allowed three earned runs on three hits in six innings for Houston, with two walks and eight strikeouts.
Steven Okert, Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader each worked one inning for Houston with no hits and no earned runs allowed. Okert struck out one, Abreu struck out two and Hader struck out one.
Tenth inning and pitching decisions
Clement broke the tie in the 10th with Toronto’s third run-scoring home run of the game. In the bottom of the inning, Alvarez singled to right, scoring Peña. Alvarez was out stretching at second, and Houston challenged the call; the call on the field was upheld.
For Toronto, Spencer Miles worked two innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs with no walks and two strikeouts. Mason Fluharty had one inning with no hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Rogers allowed one hit and no earned runs in one inning.
Louis Varland (4-4) got the win after one inning with no hits, no walks and one strikeout. Chase Lee earned his first save after allowing one hit and no earned runs in one inning. Bennett Sousa (0-1) took the loss after allowing two hits and one earned run in one inning.
Toronto improved to 54-61. Houston fell to 59-57.
