First Half Surge Establishes Command

Houston’s scoring barrage began in the opening period, driven largely by quarterback Conner Weigman. Weigman connected on four touchdown passes, including a nine-yard strike to Patrick Overmyer and an eight-yard delivery to Amare Thomas. Closing Out the Contest

The fourth quarter saw little resistance from Southern. Luke Carney capped the scoring with an eight-yard run, bringing the final tally to 77-6. Weigman finished the day efficient and effective, completing nine of twelve passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Koby Young led the receiving corps with three catches for 54 yards and two scores.

For Southern, McCauley was the primary offensive threat, throwing for 85 yards and one touchdown on 2-of-3 passing. Wyatt McCauley’s long pass to Clark Jr. was the highlight of the Jaguars' effort. On the ground, Armariyan Asberry carried the ball three times for six yards.

With this victory, the Houston Cougars improved their record to 2-0, while the Southern Jaguars fell to 1-2.
