The Prosper Eagles defeated Austin Westlake 49-40 in a high-scoring football contest held at Prosper ISD Children’s Health Stadium. A weather delay pushed back the start of the game, resulting in a scoreless first quarter. The remainder of the match saw intense offensive production, with the two teams combining for 89 points and 1,016 total yards of offense in the final three frames.
Prosper did not take the lead until the late third quarter, but they maintained that advantage to secure the win. Head coach Tyler Moore noted that while the team had areas to improve, the defensive unit played a critical role in the victory. Moore stated that the defense consistently pressured the quarterback and limited the running game, calling the players the reason for the win.
Senior defender Xander Reyes emphasized the importance of momentum, explaining that the team relied on each other to maintain energy during difficult stretches.
The fourth quarter featured a series of scoring drives that kept the game close. With just over a minute remaining in the third quarter, Westlake’s Anton Kopp kicked a 25-yard field goal to narrow the gap to 28-26.
Prosper responded with a drive led by senior quarterback Tyler Albert, who connected with tight end Elliot Brown for a 14-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 35-26. Brown finished the game with seven receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Westlake’s Patton Jones countered with a 17-yard pass to Rhett Jenkins, cutting the deficit to 35-33. Albert quickly restored the lead with a 47-yard touchdown pass to Braden Schleifer-Bell. Jones then found Caden Berry for a 7-yard score, making it a two-point game with three minutes left.
