A Dominant Night in San Antonio
Victor Wembanyama delivered a masterclass in scoring efficiency, pouring in 43 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 121-111 victory over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves. The win improves the Spurs’ record to 4-2, while the Timberwolves fall to 4-3 on the season.
The game unfolded with high-scoring quarters and rapid momentum shifts at Frost Bank Center. San Antonio opened strong, taking a 34-28 lead after the first quarter despite Minnesota’s early free-throw production.
The second quarter saw the teams trade baskets in a frantic pace, with the Spurs maintaining their advantage to enter halftime tied at 56-56 after a series of technical and regular free throws kept the score tight before the break.
Second Half Surge
The third quarter proved decisive for San Antonio. Wembanyama continued his assault from the perimeter and the rim, including multiple alley-oop dunks assisted by Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle. The Spurs built a significant cushion, outscoring Minnesota 33-27 in the period to take an 89-81 lead into the final frame.
Minnesota attempted a rally in the fourth quarter, with Ayo Dosunmu contributing significantly to the effort. However, Wembanyama’s scoring prowess remained too much for the Timberwolves to overcome. The Spurs extended their lead late in the game, sealing the victory with a 23-foot three-pointer by Wembanyama and subsequent baskets from Dylan Harper.
