The Houston Texans are nearing the completion of their 53-man roster for the upcoming 2026 NFL season as the deadline approaches. NFL teams must reduce their rosters from 90 players to 53 by 5 p.m. CT on Sunday. Currently, the Texans have made 10 cuts, leaving them with 80 players just hours ahead of the final deadline.

As the Texans navigate their roster decisions, several players are on the bubble, facing uncertainty about their futures with the team. Among those to watch are running back Noah Whittington, who has shown promise during training camp and preseason but faces competition from returning players in a healthy running back group.

Wide receiver Justin Watson, who missed most of the previous season due to an Achilles injury, is vying for a spot in a crowded receiver room. His chances may hinge on his performance and the depth of the roster following an injury to teammate Jayden Higgins.

Another wide receiver, Jared Wayne, has stood out in camp and could secure a position on the roster, especially after Higgins' season-ending injury. However, he must compete against other talented receivers, including Lewis Bond and Zay Jones.

Tight end Brevin Jordan's journey back from consecutive season-ending knee injuries has been notable, but lingering health issues this preseason may jeopardize his chances of making the final roster.

On the offensive line, center Jake Andrews faces stiff competition from rookie Keylan Rutledge and free agent Evan Brown, which could leave him off the 53-man roster after starting last season.

Defensive tackle Naquan Jones has had a strong showing in camp, enhancing his chances of making the team, but he must contend with the existing depth on the defensive line.

With the cut deadline looming, the Texans will need to make critical decisions regarding these players and finalize their roster for the season ahead.
