Tayven Jackson has been named the starting quarterback for the North Texas Mean Green as they gear up to face Indiana University in their season opener on September 5, 2026. Jackson, a former player for the Hoosiers, has had a diverse college football journey.
In 2023-24, he participated in 13 games for Indiana, completing 61.2% of his passes with six touchdowns and six interceptions. He transferred to the University of Central Florida in 2025, where he recorded a completion rate of 63.5%, throwing for 2,151 yards, ten touchdowns, and eight interceptions, contributing to a 5-7 record for the Knights.
Before entering college football, Jackson excelled at Center Grove High School, amassing 4,813 passing yards and 47 touchdowns from 2018 to 2021, leading his team to an undefeated Class 6A championship. Tayven Jackson is the brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, a notable Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2019 and currently in his fourth season with the Toronto Raptors.
The matchup between North Texas and Indiana will kick off at noon and will be broadcast on Fox.
