The Texas Tech football program has completed its 2030 schedule by adding a non-conference contest against Texas State. The Red Raiders will host the Bobcats on Sept. 14, 2030, according to a report from FBSchedules.com that cited a contract obtained through an open-records request. The agreement includes a game guarantee of $1.2 million that Tech is required to pay to the visiting team's athletics department.
This addition fills the final slot on the 2030 non-conference calendar. The season begins with a matchup against Arkansas at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, followed by a home game against Fresno State the week before the Texas State contest. The 2030 schedule is now fully set with these three non-conference opponents.
The need to secure opponents on shorter notice than typical stems from several recent contractual changes. Mississippi State canceled a two-game series for 2028 and 2029 without penalty due to a change in the SEC scheduling model. North Carolina State exercised a buyout option on a 2027 game in Lubbock, owing Tech $1 million by Feb. 15, 2028.
Additionally, Tech chose to buy out a 2027 game at North Texas, owing UNT $1 million within 60 days of the game date.
Despite these cancellations, the Red Raiders still have two non-conference home games scheduled for each of the 2027, 2028, and 2029 seasons. The 2027 slate includes games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and New Mexico. The 2028 schedule features Stephen F. Austin and Wyoming, while the 2029 season includes Incarnate Word and Missouri State.
The 2026 season is already set with games against Abilene Christian, Oregon State, and Sam Houston State.
