TCU’s 21-13 loss at Central Florida left the Horned Frogs 2-2 and 0-2 against Power Four opponents. The Big 12 opener featured 11 TCU penalties totaling 86 yards, two fewer turnovers than UCF and just 1.2 yards per rushing attempt. TCU has scored 11.5 points per game through the first month of the season.
Jaden Craig remains the starter ahead of sophomore Adam Schobel. Craig, a Harvard transfer, has gone 45-for-72 for 485 yards in games against North Carolina and UCF. He has two interceptions without a touchdown, along with 10 rushing attempts for minus-38 yards, with sacks included in college rushing statistics. Schobel did not appear as a freshman in 2025 and has one pass attempt this season.
The outcome altered plans for TCU’s Oct. 3 home matchup with No. 9 BYU. The Horned Frogs had hoped to begin 4-0 and bring ESPN’s “College GameDay” to Fort Worth. A change at quarterback could also involve compensation, since Craig signed with TCU for more money than Schobel.
Craig could start against BYU, while Schobel’s first start might come at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the bye week. Coach Sonny Dykes has previously made quarterback changes following injuries.
