Baylor defensive lineman Devonte Tezino will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a leg injury against Prairie View A&M, coach Dave Aranda confirmed after the game. Tezino, a fifth-year senior, was injured on the second play from scrimmage and was later taken from the field by cart after calling for medical staff.
Aranda said the injury was similar to the one suffered by Travion Barnes last year. “We lose him for the season,” Aranda said. He also said Tezino had been playing the best football of his career.
The Killeen native opened the season with two sacks against Auburn and also tipped a pass that resulted in an interception. Last season, injuries limited him, but he appeared in all 12 games, including seven starts, and recorded 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup.
Tezino has 56 tackles in 29 games during his Baylor career. The Bears have depth along the defensive line, but Tezino is the second Baylor starter reported to be lost for the season, joining safety Jacob Redding.
