The Dallas Cowboys have added running back Tyler Goodson to their backfield plans after making several changes at the position. Goodson was signed after Dallas waived Israel Abanikanda, following the release of 2025 draft picks Phil Mafah and Jaydon Blue near the end of training camp.
Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson discussed Goodson in an interview with Blogging The Boys’ RJ Ochoa. Robinson said Goodson is an explosive, versatile player who can run, make cuts across the field and contribute as a receiver. He also described Goodson as a close former teammate and said he wished Atlanta had kept him.
Goodson spent training camp with Atlanta and led the Falcons in preseason rushing with 92 yards. He also scored on a 49-yard touchdown run.
Before joining Atlanta, Goodson played his first three NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. In that span, he carried the ball 54 times for 264 yards and one touchdown. He also recorded 19 catches for 103 yards and another touchdown.
Dallas is adding depth after Malik Davis was injured, and Goodson is expected to remain on the practice squad. Heavy.com described his speed, receiving ability and versatility as traits that could make him an insurance option, although his opportunities to play were not yet clear.
