The Houston Texans will not have wide receiver Nico Collins available for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts after the team ruled him out with a hamstring injury. Both teams enter the AFC South matchup with 0-2 records.
Collins has not practiced this week after sustaining a Grade 1 hamstring strain during practice last week. He also missed Houston’s 20-6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, when the Texans scored six points.
The injury leaves quarterback C.J. Stroud without one of Houston’s primary receiving options for a second straight game. The Texans are expected to work with Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jared Wayne at wide receiver against Indianapolis.
Tight end Dalton Schultz could again have an expanded role. Schultz caught 12 passes on 14 targets for 140 yards against Cincinnati and leads Houston through two games with 16 receptions for 175 yards.
Houston may also use additional tight ends and look for more from its rushing attack. The Texans’ running backs averaged 1.5 yards per carry against Cincinnati, while Indianapolis has allowed 354 rushing yards and 5.4 yards per carry through two games.
