The Dallas Cowboys have finalized a trade that will send offensive tackle Nate Thomas to the Houston Texans in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Nate Thomas, 25, was selected by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2024 draft after playing college football at Louisiana. After spending his rookie season on injured reserve, he participated in all 17 games during the 2025 season, starting four of those games.
In his appearances, he primarily played as a left tackle but has also worked as a swing tackle throughout his career.
During the offseason, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated that Thomas would be competing with teammate Tyler Guyton for the starting left tackle position. However, as training camp progressed, Schottenheimer noted that Guyton would remain the first-team left tackle due to Thomas needing to demonstrate more consistent performance.
The Cowboys have also bolstered their offensive line by acquiring tackle Broderick Jones from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Following the team's preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones mentioned that they have a strategic plan for the offensive tackle position and are prepared to make adjustments as necessary.
