The Dallas Cowboys have signed receiver Ryan Flournoy and tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford to contract extensions worth up to $24 million combined, committing to both players before a projected breakout season.
Flournoy agreed to a one-year extension worth up to $6 million, keeping him under contract through the 2027 season. He is coming off a 2025 season with 40 receptions, 475 receiving yards and four touchdowns. The source said Flournoy is expected to take on a larger role as the team’s third receiver and can line up at all three receiver positions in 11-personnel formations.
Spann-Ford signed a three-year extension worth up to $18 million, including $12.075 million guaranteed. The deal runs through 2029. The tight end joined Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and was competing with Luke Schoonmaker for playing time behind Jake Ferguson last season, according to the source.
The extensions represent a change from the Cowboys’ recent practice of waiting until players had demonstrated a breakout season before offering larger contracts. Terence Steele received a five-year, $82.5 million deal after his 2022 breakout season, while Jaylon Smith signed a five-year, $63.75 million extension after his 2018 breakout season.
Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland also received extensions after establishing themselves in the NFL.
