Blue's departure comes as the Cowboys welcomed Emari Demercado, a former player with the Arizona Cardinals, to their team. Demercado, known for his power running and special teams contributions, averaged an impressive 6.5 yards per carry during his time in Arizona. He brings valuable experience, having played under Cowboys offensive coordinator Klayton Adams during his first two NFL seasons.
While the Cowboys expressed no ill will towards Blue, they would prefer he does not reach his potential while playing for their rival Eagles, where he will be joining a backfield led by star Saquon Barkley. Blue's rookie year was marked by struggles, and Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer's response to inquiries about bringing him back was notably noncommittal.
Demercado's addition is seen as a strategic move, as he joins a running back group that includes Malik Davis and fullback Hunter Luepke.
