The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with several defensive injuries after the first three games of the 2026 regular season, with Jonathan Bullard and Jalen Thompson expected to miss extended time. The latest injuries followed the team’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Rio.

Bullard has a calf injury and is projected to be out for three to five weeks, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan. He had also missed most of training camp because of an earlier injury.

Thompson is expected to miss at least four weeks because of a hamstring problem. DallasCowboys.com reported that he could join P.J. Locke on injured reserve with a designation that would allow a potential return. Locke was placed on injured reserve the previous week.

Shavon Revel has a less severe outlook than the other newly injured players. Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Revel has issues involving his knee and ankle, but not the knee he injured in college, and is expected to resume working in practice during the week. Revel could have a chance to play when Dallas travels to Houston for its Week 4 matchup with the Texans.

The Cowboys also remain without Cobie Durant, who is recovering from a hamstring injury and is unlikely to travel to South Texas. Malik Hooker, who suffered a fractured forearm in the season opener, may need additional time before returning to uniform. DeMarvion Overshown could return to practice after missing the past two games.

The injuries have prompted Dallas to work out additional safeties, including former Cowboy Juanyeh Thomas. The situation leaves first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker managing a defense with several injured players as the team prepares to face Houston.
