Jalen Thompson is expected to be unavailable for longer than four weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury during the Cowboys’ loss to the Ravens, team executive vice president Stephen Jones said Sept. 28.
Thompson was injured in the second quarter of Sunday’s 34-31 defeat in Rio de Janeiro. He could be placed on injured reserve, although the source did not indicate that a final decision had been made.
The injury further reduces Dallas’ options at safety. Malik Hooker has missed the past two games with a forearm injury, while P.J. Locke was placed on injured reserve Saturday because of a foot injury.
Before leaving Sunday’s game, Thompson had taken part in every defensive play through Dallas’ first nine-plus quarters of the season. He had recorded 17 tackles during that span.
