The Dallas Cowboys have signed tight end Mitch Van Vooren, as reported by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Van Vooren was previously waived by the New England Patriots on August 18.
This signing comes as the Cowboys face injuries to several backup tight ends, including Brevyn Spann-Ford, Michael Trigg, and D.J. Rogers. In their most recent preseason game, the team had only two healthy tight ends available.
Van Vooren has not yet appeared in a regular-season NFL game, but he may have an opportunity to showcase his skills in the Cowboys' final preseason matchup.
