The Dallas Cowboys are preparing to be without safety Jalen Thompson for more than four weeks after he suffered a hamstring injury during a 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil on Sunday afternoon.
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Thompson is likely to miss four or more weeks, according to a report from Jon Machota of The Athletic. Jones also indicated that Dallas will look for help at safety because of the team’s injuries at the position.
The injury came during a game in which Dallas appeared to have a chance to force overtime late. The Cowboys instead allowed a long Ravens pass play near the end of regulation, followed by Baltimore’s winning field goal.
Dallas entered the game with concerns on defense after its Week 1 matchup with the New York Giants and a late Week 2 performance involving Marcus Mariota. The team is now 1-2 this season.
The Cowboys are scheduled to play the 0-3 Houston Texans next Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in Houston. The specific source of any additional safety help has not yet been identified.
