The Dallas Cowboys are monitoring injuries in their secondary before a Week 4 matchup with the Houston Texans, while Houston could have receiver Nico Collins back in the lineup.
Cornerback Cobie Durant and safeties Malik Hooker and P.J. Locke are unavailable for Dallas’ Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil. Their availability for the following game against Houston has not been determined.
Collins will miss a second consecutive game because of a hamstring injury, but ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the receiver has a reasonable possibility of returning when the Texans face the Cowboys. Collins has appeared in one game this season, catching seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown in Houston’s Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Dallas is currently using DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel at cornerback. The Cowboys entered Week 3 ranked 17th in pass defense, allowing 218 yards per game. The report also identified safety Caleb Downs as an addition who has contributed to the secondary.
Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud has taken the Texans to the playoffs, including last season before Houston lost to the New England Patriots. The report said Dallas could also consider a trade for Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., but it did not say that a deal had been completed or that negotiations were underway.
