The Dallas Cowboys have officially trimmed their roster from 91 players to the required 53 ahead of the 2026 NFL season. With the preseason concluded, the team is now preparing for the regular season, which kicks off in two weeks.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that the decision-making process for this year's cuts was particularly challenging due to the overall depth and talent of the team. He stated that the Cowboys are a "deeper, better, more talented football team," making the cuts more difficult for the coaching staff.
The initial 53-man roster includes three quarterbacks: Dak Prescott, Joe Milton, and Sam Howell. The running back group consists of Javonte Williams, Malik Davis, and Hunter Luepke. The wide receiver lineup features CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, Jonathan Mingo, and Camden Brown.
On the offensive line, the Cowboys have nine players, including Tyler Guyton and Terence Steele. The defensive line includes five defensive tackles, led by Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark. The linebacking corps consists of four players, while the secondary includes five cornerbacks and six safeties.
Additionally, the Cowboys have three specialists: Brandon Aubrey, Bryan Anger, and Trent Sieg. There are also several players designated for return from injury reserve or physically unable to perform, including linebacker Marist Liufau and cornerback Devin Moore.
