Houston has expanded the playtime incentives in offensive tackle Trent Brown’s 2026 contract, raising his maximum potential earnings from $1.5 million to $2.5 million. The updated terms were reported Sept. 16 by Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti, according to sports.yahoo.com.
The revised agreement includes five separate $500,000 playing-time triggers tied to participation levels of 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Brown played 41% of Houston’s offensive snaps during the 2025 season.
The Texans first agreed to change Brown’s contract on Sept. 4, though the details were not immediately available. Troy Chapman of Over The Cap previously reported that the revision did not alter Brown’s salary-cap charge or his initial cash flow, and that the new incentives were added to the original $1.5 million package.
Brown rejoined Houston during the 2026 offseason on a one-year contract worth $5.5 million. He started seven regular-season games and one playoff game for the Texans in 2025, with injuries affecting both the beginning and end of his season.
Houston later signed Braden Smith to a two-year, $20 million contract, but Smith was placed on injured reserve after dealing with injuries and did not secure the starting job.
