North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will take on the role of starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Jackson, who is familiar with the Indiana University football program, previously played for IU for two seasons before transferring.

A Greenwood, Indiana native, Jackson had a notable high school career at Center Grove High School. He played for the Tennessee football program in 2022 and later spent two years at Indiana University before moving to the University of Central Florida for the 2025 season. At UCF, he recorded a total of 2,151 passing yards, achieving 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions throughout his time there.

Jackson's ties to IU are personal as well; he is the younger brother of former IU basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis, who has expressed his intention to attend the game to support him. This game signifies IU's first regular season match since their national championship victory in January.
