Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu has been selected as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, an award that honors a scholarship athlete for academic achievement, athletic performance and leadership.

The National Football Foundation announced the selection Sept. 23. Texas has produced finalists in each of the past two seasons, with linebacker Trey Moore receiving that recognition in 2025 and center Jake Majors doing so in 2024.

The Longhorns have also had two Campbell Trophy winners. Defensive end Sam Acho won in 2010, followed by center Dallas Griffin in 2007. Burnt Orange Nation reported the announcement.
