The Houston Cougars have secured the commitment of safety Myles Rowser, who previously played for Arizona State, as part of the NCAA's new eligibility rules. Rowser's eligibility for a fifth season comes after the NCAA determined that players from the 2022 class who did not redshirt or sign a professional NFL contract could continue their collegiate careers.

Rowser did not redshirt during his freshman year, participating in nine games for the Campbell Camels. He later attended a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks but did not sign a professional contract.

Throughout his college career, Rowser has played for Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 to 2025, accumulating impressive statistics including 295 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, and 16 passes defended.

In the 2025 season, Rowser made significant contributions to the Sun Devils, recording 84 tackles, a career-high four tackles for loss, three passes defended, and a fumble recovery, earning him a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team.

The Cougars now boast considerable depth at the safety position, featuring veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who recorded 71 and 48 tackles respectively last season. Additionally, they have added Tulane safety Javion White, who had 50 tackles in the previous season. With Rowser's arrival, there is speculation that one of these safeties could transition to the nickel corner position.

The Cougars are positioning themselves as contenders for the Big 12 title, and Rowser's addition is seen as a significant boost to their roster.
