The Dallas Cowboys lost another starting defensive back during their Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens, with safety Jalen Thompson leaving after injuring his left leg on a tackle attempt. His return was later listed as questionable because of a hamstring injury.

Thompson’s leg appeared to become fixed as his body moved in another direction during the second quarter. He remained on the field before walking away with a limp and entering the blue medical tent.

The injury adds to Dallas’ personnel issues in the secondary. Free safety Malik Hooker went down with a forearm injury in Week 1, followed by starting cornerback Cobie Durant, who suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2. PJ Locke, who had taken Hooker’s place, also sustained a foot injury.

Markquese Bell started alongside Thompson against Baltimore. Bell was penalized for defensive pass interference on a play that helped set up Derrick Henry’s second touchdown of the first half. Alijah Clark entered the game after Thompson left.

Before the game, Dallas elevated slot defender Reddy Steward from its practice squad. Rookie first-round selection Caleb Downs had been playing in that role to begin the season, although he also gained experience at safety in college. Yahoo Sports reported the injury update.
