Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is listed as doubtful for the Bears' Saturday matchup with Louisiana Tech after an ankle injury kept him out of the team's second game of the season. The junior transferred to Baylor from Florida before the 2026 season.
Lagway hurt his ankle during Baylor's season-opening loss to Auburn. He did not play in the Bears' following victory over FCS opponent Prairie View A&M.
Baylor coach Dave Aranda said earlier in the week that Lagway took part in a Monday walkthrough and would be assessed based on his practice work. The team's last injury report before the Louisiana Tech game, however, classified him as doubtful.
It is not yet clear whether Lagway could play in an emergency situation. On3's Pete Nakos reported that Baylor hopes to have him available for its Big 12 opener against Colorado next Saturday.
With Lagway sidelined, junior Nate Bennett is expected to handle the starting quarterback duties. Bennett completed 26 of 34 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns against Prairie View, adding 13 rushing yards and a touchdown. He also threw two interceptions in his first college start.
