Tank Dell’s revised contract with the Houston Texans includes performance and availability incentives as the receiver continues recovering from a serious 2024 knee injury. The agreement was completed last week, ahead of the Texans’ home opener against the Buffalo Bills.
Under the terms reported by Troy Chapman of Over The Cap, Dell could receive as much as $3.645 million if he is active for the final 13 games and plays at least half of the team’s offensive snaps.
Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 reported that the deal adds $1.5 million to Dell’s existing $1.704 million compensation, which includes a $1.145 million salary and a $500,000 signing bonus.
The contract also provides $300,000 for reaching a 30% offensive snap share, with another $300,000 available for each additional 5% increase through 50%. Dell can also earn $38,461 for every game in which he is active on the roster.
Dell is on injured reserve with a designation to return and will miss at least the first four games while rehabbing a knee injury that included a dislocation and tears to the ACL, MCL and LCL. His earliest possible return would come against the Dallas Cowboys, although additional time could be needed as he resumes 11-on-11 work in practice.
Once the Texans open Dell’s practice window, the team will have 21 days to decide whether to activate him. If no activation occurs during that period, he would return to injured reserve and miss the rest of the 2026 season. The source reported that such an outcome is not currently viewed as a concern.
