Before Hoover's announcement, TCU's personnel team had already begun compiling a list of quarterback prospects, not foreseeing his departure. General manager Ryan Dorchester emphasized that Hoover was viewed as a key player for the next season. However, they had started scouting quarterbacks as a precaution in case he opted for the NFL draft.
The Horned Frogs are specifically seeking an upperclassman with one year of eligibility left, as they consider high school signee Adam Schobel their long-term solution. Following Hoover's transfer confirmation, TCU quickly moved to sign Jaden Craig, a former zero-star recruit who excelled at Harvard for two seasons. Dorchester identified Craig while reviewing film of a former Harvard receiver, praising his efficiency and strong arm.
