The Houston Texans have completed a trade to acquire wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte announced the deal on social media prior to any official confirmation from the teams involved.
In exchange for Boutte, the Texans sent safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to New England. This trade comes in the wake of an injury to Texans receiver Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a productive previous season with 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots had a surplus of receivers after trading for A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million contract in March.
To further bolster their receiving corps following Higgins' injury, the Texans also signed veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard over the weekend. Higgins was anticipated to be a starter alongside standout Nico Collins, having recorded 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie last season.
