Ali Gaye, a defensive end for the Houston Texans, has encountered a serious setback after suffering a major knee injury during a joint practice session with the Carolina Panthers. The injury was confirmed by an MRI, which revealed that the damage is severe enough to necessitate a lengthy recovery period and possible medical intervention, according to reports from KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson.

Gaye, who stands 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 265 pounds, initially joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2023 after a stint with the Tennessee Titans. He has recorded a total of nine tackles and one sack in his career. The 27-year-old was expected to provide depth in the defensive lineup, particularly behind established players Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.

Unfortunately for Gaye and the Texans, he is now part of a growing list of injured players on the team, particularly among defensive ends. His injury raises concerns about the team's depth as they approach the upcoming season, especially for a team aiming for a Super Bowl run.

Gaye is now anticipated to miss the entire 2026 season, a significant blow for both him and the Texans.

The injury occurred around the same time that offensive tackle Braden Smith also sustained an injury, which is expected to keep him sidelined for several weeks. The Texans now face renewed questions regarding their defensive edge depth, a situation they had hoped to address during the offseason.

Further updates on Gaye's condition and the team's roster adjustments are expected as the situation develops.
