The Houston Texans resumed practice following their preseason opener, with notable developments regarding players Jalen Pitre and Tank Dell. Pitre returned to practice on Sunday, which is a positive sign for the team as they prepare for their next game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Head coach DeMeco Ryans has indicated that he expects all healthy players to participate in the upcoming matchup.
Pitre's return is significant, especially considering he missed multiple games in the previous seasons. His absence had been somewhat overlooked as few starters played in the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. Reports confirmed his participation, with KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson noting Pitre's return to the field after being sidelined last week.
In contrast, Tank Dell was absent from practice, raising concerns about his recovery from a serious knee injury that kept him out for the entire 2025 season. His absence was first mentioned in relation to teammate Jaylin Noel, who is also dealing with an injury.
Dell had previously avoided the injured list at the start of training camp, but his current status is unclear as the Texans assess his readiness for the Raiders game.
The Texans are also facing challenges with injuries across their roster. While no starters are currently expected to miss the game against the Raiders, depth could be tested. Wilson reported that several players, including Dell, Noel, and others, were not practicing on Sunday due to various injuries.
