Lewis Bond has been brought up from the Houston Texans’ practice squad for the team’s Week 2 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. The move comes as two-time Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins is unavailable for the game.
The Texans announced Bond’s elevation along with that of safety George Odum, a veteran and All-Pro special teams player. Bond’s promotion was also reported by Houston Chronicle reporter Jonathan M. Alexander on Sept. 19.
Houston selected Bond in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft with the 204th overall pick. He did not make the initial 53-player roster after the Texans’ final cuts but remained available through the practice squad.
Collins’ status beyond the Bengals game has not been determined. KPRC 2 reporter Aaron Wilson, citing a league source, reported that Collins is dealing with a Grade 1 hamstring injury and could miss two games, including the following matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The report described the situation as subject to change.
Bond has two additional practice-squad elevations available before the Texans would need to add him to the 53-player roster or choose another player. The report said Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jared Wayne and Jaylin Noel are ahead of Bond in the receiver group, though Bond is expected to play in some capacity.
