Houston Texans running back Woody Marks is expected to share backfield duties with David Montgomery during the upcoming season. According to Jonathan Alexander of the Houston Chronicle, while the distribution of carries may not be perfectly balanced at 50-50, it is expected to be quite close.
Throughout training camp, both Marks and Montgomery have received nearly equal opportunities. Alexander noted that the Texans may adopt a hot-hand strategy, allowing the coaching staff to utilize whichever back is performing better each week.
In the Texans' second preseason game, Marks played 10 snaps, rushing four times for a total of 37 yards and scoring one touchdown. He also caught one pass for six yards, working exclusively with the first-team offense while Montgomery was rested during the game. In fantasy football drafts, Marks is being selected significantly later than Montgomery, nearly five rounds apart.
