Marcel Reed has thrown for 738 yards through four games this season, and Texas A&M coach Mike Elko said he is not considering a change at quarterback. Asked if Reed could be benched, Elko answered, "No," in an exchange reported by Yahoo Sports and posted by the TexAgs social media account on X.
The No. 23 Aggies' latest game ended in a 35-6 loss to No. 10 LSU. Reed completed 10 of 26 attempts for 106 yards and had one interception. The 38.4% completion mark may be the lowest of his college career, according to the report.
Reed has six touchdown passes and four interceptions this season while completing 55.4% of his attempts, a career-low rate. He also has 104 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. In the previous season, he passed for 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns. Texas A&M is scheduled to face Arkansas in Week 5 on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. EST. The Razorbacks also are 2-2.
