The Houston Texans have signed wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, as reported by The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, who is 26 years old and stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, where he recorded eight receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns last season.
His departure from the Bengals comes after the team decided to move on due to their depth at the wide receiver position, prompting interest from multiple teams.
In response to Tinsley’s signing, The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. noted that Tinsley sees a better opportunity for playing time with the Texans, who have been actively seeking additional wide receiver depth. The Texans currently have three wide receivers on their practice squad, including Tinsley, Lewis Bond, and Josh Kelly.
Tinsley’s performance during the preseason in 2025 helped him secure a spot on the Bengals' roster.
Tinsley, an undrafted free agent, has made four starts in 19 regular-season games. He is characterized as a possession receiver, known for his solid ball skills but lacking in top-end speed and quickness for separation.
