Baylor University's women's tennis team has announced the signing of Gao Duanrui for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Joey Scrivano expressed enthusiasm about the addition, stating, "We're excited to welcome Gao to Baylor. She's a hardworking athlete with great mental toughness and a real passion for improving. I truly believe she's only scratching the surface of what she can become as a tennis player."
Gao Duanrui, hailing from Tianjin, China, comes to Baylor with a career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 1,186 and a doubles ranking of No. 1,435. Throughout her professional career, she has achieved 52 singles victories, including notable wins at the 2026 M15 Tianjin and the 2025 W15 Luan and Maanshan events.
In doubles play, Gao has reached the quarterfinals on five occasions, including one at the 2026 W15 Tianjin and three times at the 2025 W15 Luan, along with another quarterfinal appearance at the 2025 W15 Maanshan.
The Baylor women's tennis team concluded the 2025 season ranked No. 34 in the ITA Year-End team rankings. The season featured the program's 27th NCAA Tournament appearance, a trip to the second round, four All-Big 12 selections, three ranked victories, and two qualifiers for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
