A Dominant Start from the Mound
Jacob deGrom anchored the Texas Rangers' pitching staff with a stellar performance on Tuesday at Globe Life Field. The right-hander retired 21 of the first 22 batters he faced, striking out eight and allowing only one hit over seven innings. He did not walk a single batter and did not allow an earned run, earning the win to improve his record to 10-9.
The Athletics were unable to generate consistent offense against him, managing just one run in the final frame. The game concluded with a final score of 8-1 in favor of the home team.
Rangers Build an Early Lead
The home side took control early in the second inning. Carlos Correa grounded out to shortstop, allowing Nimmo to score and moving Burger to third base. Shortly after, Freeman singled to center field, bringing in Burger to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Rangers continued to add runs in the third inning when Nimmo singled to center, scoring Seager. By the end of the fourth, the gap had widened to 4-0 after Foscue hit a home run to left center field. The fifth inning proved to be the most productive for the home squad, as they scored three additional runs to make it 7-0.
Nimmo hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Duran, followed by Burger singling to center to score Seager. Carter then grounded into a fielder's choice to first, allowing Langford to cross the plate.
