Texas jumped out ahead early with two runs in the top of the first inning. Josh Jung grounded into a fielder's choice that allowed Nathaniel Lowe to score, followed by Andrew Heaney doubling to right to bring another runner home. The Rangers added another run in the top of the second when Jung reached on an infield single and Corey Seager scored.
However, Chicago responded in the bottom of the second with two runs of their own, highlighted by a 372-foot home run by Luis Robert Jr.
Seager Drives In Runs
Corey Seager was instrumental in re-establishing Texas's lead. In the third inning, Seager doubled to center field, driving in two runs to put the Rangers up 5-2. His offensive output continued later in the game; in the fifth inning, another double by Seager scored one more run, extending the margin to 7-2.
The Rangers' offense remained potent in the late innings. In the sixth, Nathaniel Burger doubled to center, scoring Andrew Heaney for an 8-2 lead. The score did not change until the eighth inning, where a walk by Burger allowed Josh Jung to score on a wild pitch by Trevor Richards, making it 9-2.
The game concluded with a dramatic final play. In the bottom of the ninth, Andrew Benintendi homered to left-center field, scoring two runs and sealing the 11-2 final score.
