The Houston Astros defeated the Texas Rangers 5-4 on Saturday at Daikin Park, improving their record to 57-55. The Rangers fell to 55-56 on the season. The game featured a volatile offensive display, particularly in the fourth inning, before Houston’s bullpen closed the door in the final frames.
Early Exchange and Fourth-Inning Surge
Texas Rangers took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Wade Jr. singled to right field, allowing Altuve to score. The Rangers tied the game 1-1 in the third inning when Langford homered to left field, measuring 348 feet.
Houston responded immediately in the bottom of the third. Trammell singled to left, driving in Alvarez and Walker to give the Astros a 3-1 advantage. The Rangers quickly cut the deficit in the fourth inning.
Osuna singled to right, allowing Carter to score. Following a sacrifice bunt by Díaz that advanced runners, Walker reached on an infield single to first, scoring Peña. Alvarez then scored on a wild pitch by Rangers pitcher Winn, tying the game at 4-4.
The Rangers challenged the call, but the umpires upheld the run being scored.
Houston regained the lead later in the fourth inning when Díaz homered to right field, 343 feet. The ball traveled the full distance, providing the Astros with a 5-4 advantage that would hold until the end of the game.
