Angels take control early

The Los Angeles Angels secured a 3-0 victory over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The away team took an early lead in the first inning when Mike Trout singled to center, scoring Jo Adell Neto. This play put the Angels ahead 1-0, and they maintained that lead for the remainder of the game.

The Rangers were unable to score a single run in their home half of the first inning.

Johnson dominates the mound

Ryan Johnson was the standout performer for the Angels, pitching seven complete innings. He allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out three batters. His outing was scoreless, as he did not allow any earned runs. Johnson’s control and command kept the Rangers' offense at bay for the majority of the game, setting the stage for a bullpen performance that sealed the win.

Late innings solidify the win

The Angels extended their lead in the sixth inning. Ballesteros doubled to center, allowing Trout to score and making it 2-0. Later in the eighth inning, Grissom singled to right, enabling Neto to score and increasing the margin to 3-0.

The Rangers had no answer from their pitching staff in the bottom of the innings, failing to produce a hit or a run in the final two frames. The attendance at Globe Life Field was 35,836.

Bullpen finishes the job

After Johnson, Michael Fulmer entered the game and pitched one inning. He allowed no hits and no earned runs, though he issued one walk. Ryan Watson closed the game with one inning of work, allowing no hits, no earned runs, and no walks, while recording one strikeout.

For the Rangers, Cody Bradford started and pitched 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs. Cole Winn pitched 1.2 innings, allowing no hits or earned runs and striking out three. Robby Ahlstrom pitched one inning, allowing two hits and one earned run.

Peyton Gray pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and no earned runs.

The final records after the game were Texas Rangers 64-66 and Los Angeles Angels 52-78.
