Rays Seize Momentum in Seventh
The Tampa Bay Rays secured a 7-6 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday at Globe Life Field, relying on a decisive offensive surge in the seventh inning. The win improved Tampa Bay’s record to 84-57, while the Rangers fell to 70-72.
Tampa Bay took an early lead when Wander Duran launched a home run to center field in the second inning. Texas answered in the third as Nathaniel Lowe’s teammate, Aranda, homered to right-center to tie the game at 1-1. The Rays regained the advantage in the fourth when Manuel Margot doubled, but it was the fifth inning that stretched the lead significantly.
During the fifth, a series of hits allowed Tampa Bay to build a 6-1 cushion. Aranda reached base via a ground-rule double, driving in one run. Caminero followed with a double to left, scoring Aranda.
Mesa Jr. then singled to center, and despite a fielding error by Rangers center fielder Carter that allowed Caminero to score from second, the Rays capitalized on the miscue. A subsequent groundout by Mullins completed a double play but allowed Mesa Jr. to cross home plate, making it 6-1.
Díaz Powers Back Into Contention
The Rangers mounted a comeback in the seventh inning, sparked by a massive hit from Adolis García. Díaz homered to left-center field, clearing the bases and scoring Burger, Carter, and Freeman. This four-run blast narrowed the gap to 5-6, injecting life into the home crowd.
Late Innings Seal the Deal
The game remained tight until the ninth inning. Caminero singled to center, advancing to second as Mateo scored, making it 7-5. Later in the frame, Díaz hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Burger to push the lead to 7-6.
