The San Diego Padres delivered a comprehensive offensive display on Monday night, overpowering the Houston Astros with five home runs in a 7-2 victory at Petco Park. The win improved San Diego’s record to 62-57, while Houston fell to 60-59.

The Padres struck first in the second inning when Varsho launched a 395-foot home run to right-center field. The blast drove in Trammell, giving San Diego an early 2-0 lead. Houston responded immediately in the same frame as Merrill hit a 411-foot homer to center field, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Tatis Jr. Turns the Tide

The game shifted dramatically in the fourth inning when Fernando Tatis Jr. provided a massive blow. Tatis Jr. launched a 421-foot home run to left field, bringing home Rengifo and Fermin. This three-run homer extended the Padres' advantage to 4-2 and proved to be the turning point of the contest.

Houston managed to score again in the sixth inning when Sheets hit a 393-foot home run to right field, making the score 4-5. However, the Padres’ offense remained relentless. In the eighth inning, Austin Hays added to the onslaught with a 361-foot home run to left field, driving in Bowen to push the final margin to 7-2.

Pitching Performances

Randy Vasquez earned the win for San Diego, pitching five innings and allowing two earned runs on two hits while walking none and striking out one. He was supported by a strong relief effort from the Padres' bullpen. Kyle Hart recorded the first save, pitching one hitless inning with one strikeout.

Bradgley Rodriguez followed with a scoreless eighth inning, also striking out one batter. Jeremiah Estrada closed out the game in the ninth, pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts.
