Prosper ISD students are nearing the end of the school year's first grading period, and a long break comes right after it.

The district's Sept. 28 board recap lists Thursday, Oct. 8, as the last day of the first nine weeks. Friday, Oct. 9, is a professional learning day for staff and a holiday for students. Monday, Oct. 12, and Tuesday, Oct. 13, are school holidays.

Counting the weekend, that leaves students out of class for five straight days, Friday through Tuesday. The second nine weeks begin when classes resume on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Back-to-school week

The district's calendar of key dates also lists Richland High School's homecoming parade on Oct. 14, the first day back.

Trustees hold their next regular board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19. Board meetings are streamed live, and the district says videos are posted within seven days.

What the board did last month

At the Sept. 28 meeting, trustees voted 4-0 to approve the consent agenda, a certificate of compliance required under the Texas Education Code, a request to reclassify committed fund balance as uncommitted, the board's 2026 operating procedures and an item on hiring contract personnel. The recap did not give dollar amounts for the fund balance change.

Administrators also gave reports on current enrollment, the 2023 bond construction program and student achievement. The recap did not include the figures from those reports.
