Prosper, Coppell rise in Texas AP high school football poll

The latest Dave Campbell's Texas Football and Associated Press rankings show Waxahachie holding the top spot in Class 6A while Prosper and Coppell climb the standings.

Waxahachie retains the number one position in the Class 6A division of the Texas high school football poll released Monday. The Cowboys improved to a perfect 3-0 record after defeating Denton Guyer with a score of 44-30.

Prosper moved up five spots to rank 18th overall in the same classification. The Warriors also remain undefeated at 3-0, securing their spot in the rankings with a 49-40 victory over Austin Westlake. Coppell saw a similar upward trajectory, jumping from number 12 to number 10 after a decisive 68-7 win against Keller Timber Creek.

Other teams that climbed the Class 6A ladder include Katy, which rose to seventh place following its 45-21 triumph over Katy Tompkins. Fort Bend Ridge Point also gained ground, moving from eighth to seventh after beating Bridgeland 56-35. Cypress Ranch improved to ninth after defeating Aldine Nimitz 52-7.

Sheldon King entered the top 10 at number nine, climbing two spots after a 58-7 win over The Woodlands College Park. Lewis Hill jumped from 20th to 14th with a 49-17 victory against Denton Ryan. Humble Atascocita moved up to 15th place after beating Dickinson 21-7, while Pearland rose to 17th following a 49-10 win over Pasadena Dobie.

Willis climbed from 24th to 19th after defeating Spring Westfield 12-7. New entries in the Class 6A poll include Cy-Fair at number 21 and Manvel at number 22. Southlake Carroll and Dripping Springs dropped out of the rankings.

In Class 5A Division I, Smithson Valley remains at the top with a 2-0 record after beating Austin McCallum 63-7. Frisco Lone Star holds second place following its 56-27 win over Cedar Hill. DeSoto entered the poll at number seven after defeating Duncanville 21-20.

Class 5A Division II is led by Anna, which moved up to second place after beating Frisco Panther Creek 42-27. Boerne climbed to third with a 30-21 win over Comal Davenport. SA Alamo Heights remains at number four after defeating SA Southwest 42-7.

Class 4A Division I is topped by Stephenville, which improved to 3-0 with a 48-7 victory over Lubbock-Cooper. Lindale holds second place after beating Van 49-46. Decatur remains third with a 71-64 win over WF Memorial.

Carthage leads Class 4A Division II at number one, remaining idle in the rankings. West Orange-Stark holds second place after defeating Bridge City 42-0. Waco La Vega is third following a 40-14 win over Tyler Chapel Hill.

Columbus tops Class 3A Division I with a 3-0 record after beating Needville 48-21. Gunter remains second with a 28-19 victory over Jefferson. Wall climbed to third place with a 49-13 win over Tuscola Jim Ned.
