The Town of Prosper has announced Prosper America 250, a community-wide initiative celebrating the nation's 250th birthday. The 40-day celebration runs from May 25 through July 4 and features a variety of patriotic events designed to bring residents together.

Honoring Service and History

The Hometown Heroes program, developed in partnership with the Prosper Historical Society and Prosper Rotary Club, recognizes current and former residents who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Honorees are acknowledged at a Town Council meeting, with their service summaries and photos displayed in the Town Hall lobby. Residents may nominate themselves or family members by completing the application available online.

Additionally, a weekly video series on the Town of Prosper YouTube channel features Mayor David Bristol, Town Councilmembers, and staff highlighting key events in the founding of America.

Community Events and Service

The celebration begins with a Memorial Day Ceremony on May 25 at 10 a.m. at the pavilion at Frontier Park, located at 1551 Frontier Pkwy. The event includes guest speakers, an invocation, presentation of the colors, the national anthem, the pledge of allegiance, TAPS, and a moment of silence.

From May 25 through July 4, the town supports local nonprofits through 40 Days of Service. Prosper-based 501(c)3 organizations are showcased on the Town of Prosper Facebook page to increase awareness of volunteer opportunities.

On May 28, the Paint Prosper Proud initiative invites artists and volunteers to paint patriotic designs on Downtown merchant windows. The artwork will remain on display through July 4, alongside oversized 75078 numbers in the Downtown plaza.

The Downtown Block Party takes place on May 30 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., hosted by The Tavern on Broadway. The event includes a family-friendly festival and a country music concert. Ticket sales open on April 27, and the headliner will be announced on the Town of Prosper Facebook page.

Fitness and Ongoing Activities

The Mayor’s Fitness Challenge features a special 250 STRONG! edition in June and July. This program adds strength training to the existing goal of 90 minutes of weekly exercise. Registration opens May 15, with activity tracking beginning June 1.
